This tea falls under a unique category of Gyokuro known as "Dento Hon Gyokuro," which translates to "traditional true style Gyokuro." Grown and hand-picked in Yame, Fukuoka. Crafted from the Yabukita and Sae Midori (meaning "Crystal Clear Green") cultivars, this exceptional Gyokuro boasts a remarkable natural rainforest fragrance, complemented by pronounced umami notes, a delightful sweet pea flavor.
Gyokuro is among the finest Japanese teas. ( a shade-grown steamed green tea ) As the young leaves of spring develop, Gyokuro plants are shaded from the sun for no less than 16 Days. This slows the growth allowing tea leaves more time to develop depth and flavor. The sun-deprived leaves are higher in chlorophyll, which explains their vivid green color. It's also higher in amino acids.
